Helping teachers bring woodwork to kindergartens.
TOYMAKER woodworking sessions are tailored to assist teachers in bringing the world of enriching woodwork directly into kindergartens.
We recognize that not every teacher may feel entirely confident in using real tools, or possess the expertise in crafting with resistant materials, particularly in today's diverse early childhood settings. This is where we step in. Our sessions are meticulously structured to provide a safe environment, along with the necessary tools and expert guidance, enabling children to swiftly acquire the safety and skills required for woodworking. With TOYMAKER, you'll not only ignite creativity but also cultivate a sense of accomplishment in both teachers and children alike.

Our workshops support learning across all strands of Te Whāriki. They foster the development of a broad spectrum of practical skills, creativity, problem-solving, mathematical thinking, scientific investigation, and much more.
Learning how to use real tools while making an interesting toy for kindergarten can be a very empowering experience for children. During our woodworking sessions, children are actively engaged, developing both knowledge and skills in areas that intrigue them, or even discovering new interests that will facilitate independent, hands-on learning. Achievements, such as sawing through a piece of wood or successfully hammering a nail, are celebrated. Children receive support and guidance, allowing them to experience success. TOYMAKER sessions also promote the valuable skills of persistence and perseverance, as children learn to master new techniques, problem-solve, and overcome challenges.
Don't give up, keep trying!
Our aim is to nurture a strong sense of mana in the children we work with. Through hands-on experiences with wood, they acquire new skills and conquer challenges, gradually viewing themselves as confident, capable learners.
This newfound confidence empowers them to take risks and embrace fresh challenges. Our projects, thoughtfully tailored for 3-5 year olds in kindergarten settings, foster independence, enabling children to shape their current and future learning experiences. Engaging in a TOYMAKER session under the guidance of an instructor builds resilience. As children problem-solve and surmount obstacles, they come to understand that it's perfectly fine not to always succeed, but with perseverance, goals can be attained.
Safe creations, happy explorations.
Children's safety is our priority.
We maintain a comprehensive risk assessment documentation and offer a detailed health and safety guide to ensure that the workshop is a low-risk activity. Our staff undergo regular police vetting, and a copy of the report is available upon request. You are also welcome to conduct your own check for added assurance.
